It's very possible to get an A in this class with little no to at home practice, however, if you would like to excell, and get into the most advanced choirs (barbershop) it's required. the amount of people who are "coasting by" on learning in class is significant, however, the section leaders, and leadership members (official or not) are expected to practice at home and lead by example.

Mrs. Duck is the best teacher i have ever had,. i graduated in 2017, and even through college courses this remains true. Her class is the most "at home" I've ever felt in a classroom, and i go to visit from time to time even to this day.
