If you're having trouble in his class just ask for help. This teacher is perhaps the most inviting and understanding teacher. He provides a lot of time for you to come in either during lunch or after school to get help with assignments. I remember their were days I would ask him in class if I could get help after school and he would make the time to stay a bit later just to help out. He will also let you make up test sometimes.
Don't be afraid to talk to this teacher about things, even if it's not school related. They are incredibly insightful and caring. They have your best interest in mind and are super supportive. They are also great at helping you out with school work and even communicating to other teacher for you in order to get your class work if you're missing a day. They will also go to bat for you when needed.
