For General Chem, do the work as it comes. The concepts build on one another, so don't just fake it and go with what seems right. The class is also lecture-oriented, so if that isn't your best way of learning, come in for tutoring and Dr. Choate is more than happy to help every student!
Have an open mindset. Don't think of the content of the class as completely factual, but rather a perspective on reality. The class is often a forum for ideas about our way of living. Engage in the conversations, but don't be narrow-minded.
