For a great year in Mr. Larkin’s class, there are many rules you should keep in mind. Firstly, and most obviously, follow instructions during class, otherwise it could result in a low grade for the class period. If you have any questions, feel free to ask around, or ask Mr. Larkin for help. Next, constantly check Google Classroom. This will be your lifeline in the class. Every week, he will post a schedule for the upcoming week. There are also separate tabs under classwork for classwork, homework, notes, housekeeping items, and emergency plans. Moving on, try to keep writing responses as short as possible. Most times Mr. Larkin will look for your responses to be within the required length or shorter. I’ve struggled with this a lot (as you can already tell from the length of this advice), yet it was still fully possible to get full credit, as long as you had fully addressed the prompt. This ties into using the provided formats correctly. Your writing will be subject to errors if you do not fully address prompts, and will most certainly result in a decreased grade for the assignment. Additionally, accurately use vocabulary words within your writing! This will really demonstrate your understanding level of the concepts within the unit. To continue, turn in work on-time, and with full effort! As long as you follow this, you will get full credit. If work is late, be sure to turn it in within two weeks for partial credit, and email Mr. Larkin regarding late work using the format posted in Google Classroom. Last, but certainly not least, limit off-topic conversation and actions in the classroom, otherwise you’ll face consequences. In my 7th grade year, I had a rowdy class, who decided to talk off-topic, pass snacks around, spread hate speech, and do some downright bad things, ignoring all of the warnings he clearly and promptly provided to us about the consequences. Despite me and a few others who had stayed on task the entirety of the time, he eventually got tired of our tomfoolery. It turned out, he was closely monitoring us the entire time. As a result, my class had to face the consequences. I believe as long as you follow these rules, and are a great influence to your peers, you’ll have a great year as a student of his.
