Alina Whittle

Mrs. Whittle is a very nice person, but it is hard to learn from her teaching. She spends most of the class working on SAT prep books and gives you more time than necessary to finish exercises, leaving you with a lot of free time in class. She uses presentations as time fillers, only showing them when she has nothing planned for the rest of her time. She will show you the same presentation four or five times throughout the year, even though the information on the slides is not necessary for you to know. She gives you huge amounts of homework with no warning or time to complete it. I say no warning because homework is unusual in her class. I would say about once a month she gives actual homework. Some of her test questions are overly specific to the point that you would have had to memorize the text to know them, but they are all multiple choice, so test grades are determined by who is the best guesser. Many of her tests are only 5 or 6 questions, leading to overall low test grades from missing just one or two questions. When her test questions are not really specific, they are ridiculously easy, and she gives out so much extra credit and is such an easy grader that most kids end up with an undeserved A. Also, many test questions are found online, and she puts them onto the test without review leading to many questions where more than one answer is correct, but she has a desire to be right and won't listen if you try to fight her on the questions.
