Garcia is a very, very understanding teacher. You will never be marked down for late work, and you can almost always work something out with him if you're struggling.

Are you looking for a class in which you can watch U. S. war crimes be clumsily glossed over or outright ignored? Are you looking for a completely non-critical regurgitation of Red Scare-era anticommunist propaganda? Are you looking for a class that claims to call out American exceptionalism while almost seemingly accidentally justifying American interventionism and nu-imperialism? If so, this class is perfect for you. I do feel bad saying this because Mr. Garcia is genuinely a very kind and understanding person. I doubt he has any bad intentions. But if you have any interest in actually learning anything meaningful about U. S. history, this class's content is dangerously incomplete. This class presents history as a series of great men and fails to every make a critical examination of the U. S. government's role on either a global or domestic scale. History is a series elites sitting around the table discussing ideology, wholly removed from any form of actual humanitarian effect. It's astounding to me that at the beginning of the class it claimed it would view history through the lens of systems of oppression. My advice for this class: look up literally anything you hear mentioned because there's probably at least ten U. S. war crimes or human rights violations that just casually escaped mention.
