Participation counts for a lot; try to find something interesting in each reading to talk about, and make sure your voice is heard!

Mr. Black is a gem of a teacher - definitely one of the best I've ever had. He's incredibly passionate about all that he teachers, and I could listen to him talk about the material or his surplus of stories about his life for hours! His essay topics are difficult at times, but in my experience he will talk to you about them as long as you put in the work. Make sure to actually do the readings to understand the main points of the lecture, and be ready to talk a lot! On top of all of that, he is just a very lovely person to get to know. I took every class that he offered, and I enjoyed them all!
