The class is fairly easy, but Bays makes this class very undesirable. My tips to you are to 1) take the 15-20 minutes to do your reading and notes every day (preferably closer to class so you remember the minor details; try Warrior Block or something), 2) memorize every heading/subheading in the reading (Bays LOVES to use them on reading quizzes), 3) prepare for random assignments or giant projects out of the blue (quite a bit of these projects involve arts, crafts, woodworking, or more, and there's usually 1 per term), 4) participate no more than 2-3 times per day but no less than 2-3 times per week, 5) SIT AT THE BACK OF CLASS AND AWAY FROM HIS DESK (best spot to avoid conflict and for quizzes), and 6) never try to correct this man, even if he's wrong. Bays likes you if you participate slightly, don't talk back to him, and don't worry a ton about grades. Bays HATES you (this was me) if you participate a lot, talk back to him and correct him, and worry about your grades. Don't be afraid to stand up to him when he makes mistakes that mess up your grades (because that's what you gotta do), but don't expect him to like you when you do.

(not ap lang) The class was a bit difficult at times, it was an honors class to be fair and it was treated as such. Most of the quizzes and tests were not something you could just wing based on base knowledge. It is expected of you to truly study and prepare for the class. It was a bit harder than I was used to and it took me a while to get used to the work and rules around the class. The late work policy is a bit much ( after one day you cannot turn it in even for partial credit) Overall it was a fine class I passed thankfully. He answers emails super quick and was overall a nice guy but not a push over. Class is not for the lazy. He is not strict or mean but his class isn't a fun type of class we rarely did activities and the biggest complaint I would have is the lack of review in class. I was used to reviewing material in class and we had to do it for homework. Most classwork was given enough time to finish at least half some days we were lucky and got to go home with no homework. Definitely a no nonsense type of guy but he had his good moments. 6/10 for the class as it could have been worse but I was used to more laid back type of classes. Good teacher but not my type of style. If you are used to studying outside of class and preparing then he is good for you not super hard not easy either.

study your vocab. although it's a pain it is easy points in her tests/quizzes. free questions will save your grade. try going to tutoring as much as possible even if you don't need it. going to tutoring = free free questions for little effort

I had her for Marine Bio and APES. Both different environments but she acted about the same. I admire how much she knows and for me science has always been interesting so I pretty much always paid attention. For her marine bio class I would say work is medium difficulty it was more laid back than APES and you get more free time, some days are just notes but most weren't. You get class time to complete it so if you use your time you should not have homework and I often had extra time after I finished. We got to watch blue planet every week and that was a nice way to start off the week, she also had cool animals and things to look at that she has in glass bottles. I did have to study for test and what you pay attention and do in class can be enough for some people but not for me. I always did better when I did the extra credit which I highly recommend to do as it really helps you review and what is on it is on the test/quiz. For APES it was a different ballpark. I fortunately had it in first semester so we were not always rushing like second semester is. We did cool labs pretty often and she was always there to help if you needed it. Sometimes I felt like I would annoy her but she never turned me away. There is pretty much daily homework which reviews what we will learn the next day its super easy and basically a free 100 so always do that. You have fill in the blank notes and you are required to do them because you turn them in before taking your test. You also have a study guide you have to do. If you do the bare minimum on it you'll be fine but I recommend going a little more detailed when writing it as it was the best review I could do to feel more prepared. I never got above a B and pretty often got C's on her tests/quizzes. They were medium-high difficultly depending on the person. Not impossible but you cannot pass with just paying attention in class, but that is expected as it was an AP class. A few people did thought but they were just naturally good at studying and attentive and good learners. For me I always had to do more just to meet the mark. She is a cool person and I loved seeing her talk bout something she really knows, I loved asking questions. She is a no nonsense kind of person she isn't fun easy going laid back teacher but she is doing her job which is teaching and she's good at it. Not a hard class and I enjoyed it and will even miss it sometimes.
