Be aware that the grading methodology is inconsistent; Mrs. Muoio offers no rubric or similar outline of grading criteria. As you read class material, prepare relevant, insightful questions to share with the class.

Although Mrs. Muoio is incredibly knowledgeable, she is typically unclear about her expectations, resulting in talented students receiving low grades.

A knowledgeable, well-intentioned individual, Mrs. Muoio gives excellent feedback to help students improve their writing. At the same time, however, she often cannot give a rationale for the grades she gives students. Her lack of a consistent grading system made it a difficult year for me in English and probably led to me losing points (and confidence in my writing abilities) where I should not have. There were also a few instances where I got perfect scores, and although it is hard to complain about that, there were some clear errors that she had already told us to avoid. Due to these issues, I would encourage her to use a more consistent pattern of grading (i. e. having a rubric to avoid confusion over expectations and so that there are no unwelcome surprises when she hands back the paper).

A wonderful, knowledgeable teacher, Mrs. Muoio really pushes her students to give their best work. She gives precise feedback on writing, which has really helped me to improve. However, I still think that we should have done a few more creative writing assignments and used a rubric to make expectations clearer and grading more understandable and consistent. Though this certainly did not detract from an excellent English 10 Honors class! Thank you, Mrs. Muoio!

Our in-class discussions are interesting, and she gives beneficial feedback, but Mrs. Muoio should improve her grading system. Currently, she uses no rubric or consistent method of grading, and it makes it difficult to know if your English skills are where they need to be.
