Class participation counts for a lot of your grade. Also, if a paper is announced in the beginning of the unit, get your hands on the paper guidelines and questions and go through all class readings looking for things to help with your paper.

take notes and do the readings, he gives random reading quizzes sometimes on them. it's a pretty fast-paced course, so make sure to pay attention. also, please do not procrastinate on your papers! always a bad idea.
