Try to do the assigned readings and put some care into essays--give thought to homework but do not write too much or you'll risk tiring before the essays. Dr. Gordon sometimes assigns papers over weekends or in very short time spans. During the the short-story unit at the start of the year, you can expect an essay every weekend.

Dr. Gordon might start the first day by reading a poem--I was quick to judge but warmed to him. He is very literature-inclined and teaches with a genuine interest and dedication.
