For comp sci take good notes especially in the beginning when all the basics are being taught. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you have prior knowledge of programming the course is still good to take. Mr. Hewett is a great teacher.

Generally: he has time available to help students and is very helpful when asked. Ask for help! For intro to programming: test your code. A lot. For precalc: take good notes, especially on complicated topics.
