Pay attention to the videos he posts and self-study or you will be lost. The concepts introduced in the beginning build on top of each other, so it is important you go out of your way to understand the material. Read the textbook and watch additional videos. The material itself is not hard, but would be easier if it had been explained properly in class.

Make sure if you don't understand a problem or concept you ask. A lot of concepts seem more difficult than they are like naming conventions but you just need to get it explained in the right way. A lot of the work is easy but you have to actually learn the material.
