The homework counts as a majority of your grade, so take it seriously and work with friends. Although retakes are offered for quizzes, they tend to be more difficult than the quizzes themselves (especially for AP students). The quizzes are pretty challenging, are not reflective of your in-class assignments, and require a significant amount of self studying, as neither the homework, classwork, or lectures tend to cover test material. Review for tests using YouTube videos, practice MCQ exams found online, and visit the school's other teachers for remediation / practice. Do not take the AP Physics class in your senior year unless you are prepared to work very hard and have the time to focus on this class primarily. The class is not very forgiving to students, especially seniors, on a tight schedule and can negatively impact your GPA prior to mid-year reports, which are sent to your colleges. This warning is more targeted towards students already taking other AP courses, students with jobs, or students who feel that they may be overwhelmed / suffering from "senioritis. " The AP Physics class is far more challenging than the First Year Physics class, so your prior experience with this teacher may not apply in your senior year. AP Physics is not an easy class, so do not expect your typical scores, as even the highest scoring students only score in the 70s-80s, with only one or two As, and most with a failing score. Ap Physics C, with another Physics teacher, though equally / potentially more challenging, is much less harmful to your GPA while offering the weight / rigor of an AP Physics course.

He's one of the High Tech GOATs, and if you hear negative things prior to taking his classes as I did, know that it's because he does require more from you for a mandatory class than a lot of other teachers, but the class is so much more rewarding when you succeed as a result, and you're really prepared to take the AP Physics exams even in first-year physics. We had weekly homework (used to be daily textbook problems) but they do a lot for cushioning your grade, and the quizzes are tricky and multiple choice/free response but if a lot of the class is doing suboptimally then he normally removes lowest grades and allows for retakes.
