I was class of 2014 so this was a long time ago but I felt the need to write this. I've currently gotten a bachelors as well as a professional degree and attended really top tier schools (not ivy league specifically but up there) and when I think back to my entire education, Mr. Sabo's high school English AP class was the best class I've ever taken. It was by far one of the hardest classes i'd ever taken and I was naturally not a strong writer or reader. I was much more of I can fill out a worksheet or do a problem set but writing an essay is way beyond me. I struggled throughout his entire class but now after having matured and gone through further education, I can look back and definitively say that his class was so important to the development of my critical thinking skills. It took a few years for the lessons to sink in but his taught English so well and very advanced that I didn't appreciate it as a high schooler but now I can see how brilliant it was. He taught more than just summarizing books, he really taught how to understand argumentation and what rhetoric is and I didn't have the capacity to understand that in high school. These are critical thinking skills that are so important to every aspect of life and to be honest, very few people you encounter in life will care so much about the intention behind literature but I highly recommend all students to stick with his class because you will understand its value years later.

This is a ridiculously hard English class, honestly, unless you're a phenomenal writer and want to teach English at Harvard, I'd switch out. It's not even a class that challenges you, it ridiculously hard for no reason and you don't actually learn anything.

If you aren't wanting to excell and major in English at some Ivy League, switch classes.

People either love or hate Sean because he is a strange guy who teaches a hard class. I personally enjoyed him and liked most of the course work, he's a super chatty dude and is also just weird. At first I hated him because I HATED reading A Prayer for Owen Meany. Once we got out of the Puritan Lit unit I enjoyed the class and Sean as dude. Lowkie my GOAT. Very fun class especially if you have friends in it.

His class is unreasonably hard, he has favorites and is unwilling to work with students who are struggling. His writing is mediocre compared ti the writing he expects from his students.
