Note taking is your best friend. Also ask him to send you slideshows or ask him to post them if you need, he probably will he just sometimes forgets. Ask for help for writing assignments if you're confused, he won't mind as long as you use the time well and make an effort to communicate. If you need an extension ask. He's a really nice person and you'll almost never be bored in his class, his voice is also impossible to fall asleep to in a good way. He's really passionate about what he teaches. It's just the content and assignments that can be challenging. Also email him sooner in day rather than later he is the department coordinator so he doesn't check things super late at night.
