Do the reading! Mr Raymond purposefully uses questions that aren't on sparknotes. He does let you use notes though, so there is no reason you can't do well on them.

If every teacher followed the way he teaches there wouldnt be a problem with the educational system. You're not there to just do your job and go home. You're there to educate and stimulate the students minds and prepare them for what's to come. Dont become a teacher if you're not gonna give it 100%. If you dont like your job, we wont either. And Raymond made it clear that he enjoys what he does.

Mr Raymond is amazing! He really tries to get you to think about concepts in different ways, and will make you question your own beliefs. He is also understanding and approachable, and really wants you to succeed and have fun. The stand-up routine is very nerve-wracking but once you get through that the class is pretty low stress. He doesn't give busy work but there is a good amount of writing. Reading quizzes are very specific but as long as you take notes you will be fine. If you have him as a senior he is SO MUCH HELP on your college essays. He is a great creative writer and will teach you how to use these skills effectively.
