Read the books. The pop quizzes are usually difficult and a lot of the times they are a hit or miss, and there isn't much you can do about it. Spelling tests are all word memorization so they are an easy grade booster. For the few essays, try to set a time for him to read over it and help you improve it. The non-writing sections of the tests are difficult and rely on memorization from the text, especially for the quote identification.

Murph is a funny guy. If you ever wanted to know a teacher who thinks he lives in the 1950s but has a young soul he's your guy. He is very old fashioned (like two-spaces-after your-period-old fashioned), so don't expect to use technology very often. Never take him seriously but always pay attention in class.
