Actually take notes, and make sure your notes are organized. If they aren't it will suck for you having to look for things all the time. Have a separate notebook for in-class notes and more organized notes. Participate in the class because certain things will stick easier there. Finding something you do in your free time that connects in some way to the class is helpful, like a TV show and watch it in French. Doing Duolingo will help since you can learn vocab terms and other things before learning them in class, putting you slightly ahead and less confused. Do the homework, and don't just look things up, write down questions and confusions.
