Just be prepared. If you sign up to perform, then be ready. The only way to fail the class is to refuse to perform or be disrespectful.
It truly depends on what class you take if you are going to get a lot of homework. If you take AP Physcology then you will get a decent amount of homework (but this is expected). I took Psychology and Sociology, both of them were interactive and fun, also we only had 2 homework assignments a semester. She is the only teacher that I have had that makes group interaction a priority. Take sociology is you want to be really involved with peers in your class.
