Outside of daily participation, quizzes are the most important part of the class. Make flashcards or study with other classmates to prepare. Also, the curriculum requires that you be comfortable being in the same room and handling multiple animals, including birds, snakes, and various rodents. You'll also be asked to go outside as a class occasionally, weather permitting. If you are scared or uncomfortable about that, get your science credit elsewhere. Beyond that, I recommend taking this class.

Mr. Gunn is an extremely cheerful, knowledgeable teacher. He is extremely approachable and gladly answers any curious questions you have about animals. Since his class is less structured than most, you may get students who are disruptive. Mr. Gunn will be assertive when the behavior is distracting or harmful, but he's not particularly stern. During lunch, before, and after school is when it's rare to see Mr. Gunn. Use the free time in class to talk to him if you need to instead.
