Make sure to memorize the periodic table early on. Study for the tests, and you'll be fine, but if you don't you WILL fail. Make sure to communicate with the teacher if you're struggling, or it will just get worse.

As long as you know how to read and comprehend material, you will do just fine. We read books such as Great Expectations, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Romeo and Juliet along the two trimesters you have the class. She teaches a variety of classes, including Science Fiction, English, Advanced English, and English 9AH. It is too bad the only sophomore class that she teaches is Science Fiction, where you read and watch books and movies like Jurassic Park, discussing the scenes or chapters, and possibly having a little food party at the end. Even though her English classes all have different titles, the only main difference is the amount of work you get, if that varies at all. One day, we were giving essays on how to do something that we love, and one of our classmates was allowed to bring her new llama as a visual aid to her essay about grooming and training one.

Band class is amazing. The freshmen in school as well as newcomers to an instrument are in his class. Wind Ensemble and more advanced classes are with the other band director, and both teachers co-teach (pretend that is a word) Marching Band with various other hired staff members with equal experience. We are taught scales one or two at a time, starting from major scales to minor, practicing learned scales along the way. Our only final in Concert Band is to have a few scales to write and random scales to play. In Marching Band, we learn to memorize amazing music while practicing choreography and experimenting with technique in the show. Marching Band is extremely difficult, but to have so much fun playing a successful show with your band-friends (Let's face it, we all have our normal friends and then our friends we bonded with in band) and receiving the compliments from complete strangers on how great you actually were makes it completely worth the time and effort. I have to warn you, it does cost an extreme amount of money and time, but you won't regret it. Also, REMEMBER WATER!!!

I would recommend studying as much as you possibly can, and bring homework home every day, no matter when it is due. No matter what is said, the biology textbook DOES NOT HELP you with any assignments other than definitions, and even then some words have to be researched. Mrs. Sobieski does not like for you to use any electronics in class unless specifically told, and you are not allowed to research answers or help online unless told to in the problem. When asking questions, phrase them specifically to show that you have asked for classroom help as well as read the book, because she will refuse to help you unless you prove that you have already tried, and then will you be so lucky as to have the question rephrased and questions thrown at you with no rhyme or reason. It is better to go online to find help than ask. Rather than about the basic marvels of human and animal biology, most of the class is spent about evolution, so be prepared for videos hating Christians and passionate lectures about how "amazing" Charles Darwin is.
