Don't take the class unless you are prepared to read.
Class of 2023
The class can be quite boring, and the grading can be quite harsh, even when compared with other English teachers. However, if you put in the work, you will get a ton out it.

Class of 2023
Mr. Grossman is an extraordinarily tough teacher, but if you put in the work, he will more than meet you halfway. I would also add that he is one of the kindest and most generous people you know. If you're having issues with him or his class, reach out to him, and he will do everything he can to help you.
Class of 2027
Mr. Grossman is an awesome teacher and very caring, but he is a BRUTAL grader. It can be hard to see his good side because his class is incredibly boring. However, he really tries to make the class interesting, and he really does respond to feedback. He is very good at preparing you for English 10, which prepares you for English 11, which is much harder than English 12. English 10 and 11 are some of the best and hardest courses at NSCDS (especially English 11 with Mrs. McHugh, that class is legendary in terms of its difficulty). However, he really prepares you for them, but he doesn't really do any of the heavy lifting.
