Info related to College Writing 1 (that is the only class I had with this teacher) Do not expect to be able to write good essays in one night. If you do, you deserve the grade you get. Don't just read, analyze what you are reading. At the beginning of each unit, you will go through a slideshow about a certain essay format, then you will read certain articles. Realize that you will have to write an essay of that format on the topic of those articles and think ahead. The first essay is the worst, but the class gets so much better afterwards. It's not a hard class, I worked more in the first month of Lit in Film than I did the entire semester of this class.

Dr. Gilbert is single-handedly responsible for the fact that I can write a competent essay without sounding like a complete buffoon. Her policy of letting you rework a part of your essay truly helped me understand why I was having problems before. The difference between essay feedback, and applying the feedback to improve an essay is genuinely incredible. The class isn't the easiest, and it probably won't be the easy A that seniors are looking for, but if you want to actually become a better writer, I honestly can't recommend any class but this one.
