In proof-based classes (number theory, abstract algebra, theory of analysis), you will do well if you understand how to get to all of the theorems in class. The proofs on the tests rely heavily on your intuition for how to get to the results in a short amount of time, and all of the work you do outside of tests is done to build this intuition. During the tests, remembering how to apply concepts to numerical calculations will get you a C. Using lemmas and concepts from class to show the implications of what you covered in class will generally earn a B. Finishing the harder proofs earns an A. Tests and the final are weighted 73%, so do well on these. For courses that aren't primarily proof-based (multivariable calculus, differential equations, linear algebra) and core courses (MI and BC sequence), some proofs might occasionally appear, but it is more important to be able to apply concepts quickly to get the calculations.
