Pay attention to class he explains stuff really well and if you don't understand something in class he will explain it to you. Also If he offers extra credit DO IT! He never offers extra credit.

Taylor Horspool

Horspool doesn't require you to take notes on anything, but you really should. It benefits you so much in the long run. Also, he works a little fast, so if you don't understand how he got to where he did, don't be afraid to ask. You're gonna want that clarification.

Make sure to turn your assignments in on time. Grading patterns fluctuate greatly depending on the day. Be sure to pay attention in class when lectures are given, and take notes. Some of the things that are taught can be extremely confusing. Be prepared to ask classmates for help, and to use online tutorials. It's helpful to be technology savvy in this class.

This class is extremely difficult. Make sure to do your problem sets, and complete them on time. Listen to everything that is said in class, and write all of it down. The exams are worth a ton, and the problem sets are worth close to nothing, and that is all that goes in the grade book. Take this class extremely seriously, and do not fall behind. Try to understand everything at the beginning, otherwise you will get lost later. Would recommend not taking this class if you aren't good at graphing/geometry, as it is very difficult if you do not have a clear understanding of graphing. Make sure to memorize all of the terms, and keep your graphs straight, Do the readings from the book, they will help a lot, although your answers to the questions are not worth very much toward your grade. Be prepared to study on your own a lot, and review the material she has given you. Watching videos online can be helpful, but sometimes it feels as though things are thrown in the exam that were not covered in class. Be prepared to work really hard and spend a lot of time studying and on homework for this class.

Make sure you have musical experience for concert band, general music is easy and just the basics, if you do have experience, concert band is a cakewalk, and symphonic band and marching band are ways to increase your skills as a musician after concert band, marching requires more physical movement and complete musical memorization for most if not all instruments, and symphonic band plays incredibly difficult music compared to the middle school experience, to summarize:be ready, don't talk in class, and you'll be fine. (not sure how general music is)

This class is fantastic. Homework is actually worth points that count toward your grade, and extra credit is offered often. Grading is extremely fair, and projects are extremely fun. All of the test material is covered in class, and you are never left guessing. He uploads videos online of all his lectures, and is extremely understanding. Everything is worth points, and you never feeling like you are doing unnecessary busy work. Homework is given every night, but it is expected for the class, and doesn't feel like too much. He does grade based on accuracy, but everything is explained well. Always incorporates real world scenarios into his teaching, which is extremely helpful, and his lectures and videos are thorough and consistent.
