Remember all the individual kanji and combinations, as one test requires you to make up 10-15 words from a kanji bank. Review the lessons at your own time at home, then practice verbally in class. It is recommended to make your own notes and copy down practices in class, as a certain amount of the practice questions in the book will be for class work. For writing paragraphs in Japanese you can send your paragraph to her for clarification or ask in class.

Maiya Matsumoto, or Maiya Sledge, is a very knowledgeable teacher. I took her class beginning fall 2015. I took all four of her classes and learned so much about Japanese language and culture. Learning the songs in Japanese were so much fun, and the dramas/movies we watched on Thursdays and Fridays were very interesting. I use this knowledge in everyday life now, throughout college and through work. Overall I passed her class and I am so happy to have learned Japanese with her.
