Read the texts she gives you whether they’re articles, books, poems, whatever. She will tie current events into what we are reading and discuss how they are connected. Lots of symbolism and critical thinking, reading between the lines kinda stuff. Don’t be afraid to ask for tips for essay writing or writing a report or whatever. She gives so many good resources handouts for writing better, use them! I still have mine! Mrs. Kelley’s class is not easy but you learn a ton!

Mrs. Kelley is one of my favorite teachers of all time. Her class was not easy, but I learned more in her class than any other English class I’ve taken. I had her for 10th grade English and Expository Reading & Writing Class (ERWC) in my senior year. I 100% recommend it and it helped my writing to be college level and spectacular. We also read and analyzed 1984 by George Orwell and works by Ray Bradbury while also watching the Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents and compare and contrast and see meanings underneath and how they portray a similar theme. I loved the class!
