My time as a student in Ms. Marquez’s CTE Entrepreneurship pathway classes and her advisory in DECA were the most memorable, influential, and educational experiences I had at Valencia High. Without her, I wouldn’t have discovered my passion for my business nor be as prepared for my future in the business world going into college and beyond. The curriculum Ms. Marquez has designed for the CTE pathway courses is tailored to meet students needs and expectations in terms of both academic content and engaging content. She consistently reaches out to alumni of her pathway program in search of constructive criticism to keep her programs constantly improving and adapting to new generations of students. Her work as the Valencia DECA advisor is unparalleled and the club wouldn’t be the same without her. As soon as she became advisor the club had a massive turn around, becoming one of the leading industry-specific clubs on campus, competing with the likes of the Medical Science Academy and Robotics Club. Thanks to Ms. Marquez, DECA gives students the opportunity to explore anything and everything business-related with unique leadership and project opportunities to create a student group of business professionals with a structured background, preparing them perfectly for entering the ever evolving world of business. Ms. Marquez has also designed the club as a social hub, allowing students to connect, befriend, and learn from likeminded peers. This was especially prevalent on the multitude of trips Ms. Marquez organized for our DECA chapter, most notably the SCDC Conference in Anaheim where we all cheered each other on through our competitive events. Without Ms. Marquez, the CTE Entrepreneurship Pathway, Valencia DECA, and Valencia High as a whole would not be the same. - Ron Kazovsky, Class of 2025
