In English 1a, the vocabulary is a good buffer for your grade if you do it consistently, At times there can be a lot of reading, if you can either read ahead or use another method to ensure that you do not fall behind. She does test at times of details within the book to ensure you have read. One of the ways she gets around spark notes is to include the footnotes of the text (I'm looking at you Odysseus) in the quizzes.
