Don't submit anything late bc he takes a rlly long time to grade late work and he set up his canvas to put in a 0 if there isn't a submission by the time something is due. He once waited until the end of the semester to grade some of my late work.

Take thorough notes throughout the slides she sometimes give, do some outside research on topics you think are important and you should do fine. Make sure to completely get down all the writing styles and rubrics to make sure you do well. Do not procrastinate even though you would want to, it would sometimes crush you if you have homework bundle due the next day. A lot of historical information to cover but follow what she wants you to focus on and you are good.

First of all, DO NOT take this class, but if you still somehow want to, welcome to the club. First of all, always READ the books, they are a literal LIFESAVER, especially in the first semester where reading can become apparent. A lot of the tests/writing assessments in this class are taken from the books you read and she often goes over important elements you need to know for the multiple choice/short answer test so always be prepared and read the books. Speaking of writing, the writing needed for this class is WAY above average, even for a sophomore english class. Expect to fill pages for all of your notebook entrees, because she expects you to write anywhere between 0. 5-2 pages per entree in order to get a complete +. Writing will get a lot heavier and overwhelming in the second semester so be prepared, as star and the socratic seminar and its preparation docs, which will be a part of your FINAL. As for both star and soc sem, pay attention to how many sources you need, as those are the top priority you need to focus on, as most of your grade for CESA and the soc sem doc will be based on how many sources you use, which includes outside sources you would need to incorporate to get an advanced. As a student who had this teacher for English 1, this class is very easy to succeed in, as you just need to do what is required. Getting an A is pretty easy, as an 80 percent or higher counts as an A. Some textbook and novel reading is required at the beginning of the semester, but that is about it. The second semester is more about individual novels and stories from the textboook (you will mostly read in class). The amount of work required will lessen, as your essays/assessment projects will be what counts at the end.

Standard English 2 class for 10th graders. Not very difficult overall and Ms. Rocheleau will answer specific questions about any of your writing but won't review it unless you have something specific to ask her about what you wrote. One of the most consistent ways to earn at least a high B on writing assignments (which are 80% of the total grade) is taking a very liberal stance in your writing because she seemed to be a little more lenient on grading if you did (at least in my experience). There were some in-class essays and paragraphs but none of them were very long and all of them had separate assignments that she assigned to prepare us to write these.

She assigns MUCH more work for the REGULAR eng 1 class, you will do books that many other classes skip or do not start until later. Most hw assignments that are expected to be done outside of class in her class other classes do only done in class. Essays are extremely hard to get an A and if too 'good', she will accuse you of AI, so beware, it is a common occurrence. You will need to read the books, and you will have in-class short essays to answer about the book.
