David Yuan is the best English teacher at Lowell. Yes, you have to endure those pity looks from the Moffitt gang who thinks you're stuck in English hell, and I did only end up in his class because of my last pick. But after a year in his class, I'm left with only confusion as to why he has this terrible reputation. His class is organized and engaging and challenging in the best way. He led the best discussions of my high school career, which often lead to perspectives I hadn't considered. The books were not easy, but well explained. The best part: I was indispensably prepared for the AP test.

This is one of my favorite classes at Lowell. The material is interesting, and Dr. Yuan connects it to current events through debates. Music Friday is a definite highlight, the class discussions are interesting, and there is enough test practice that all students perform exceptionally on the AP test.
