This is for CSA, not sure about the other physics classes but: - The only instruction you will receive is from the website called Runestone (Similar to CodeHS if you were in CSP) - You really need to nail down the concepts in each unit as the tests have few questions which leaves room for a lower score for less mistakes - Honestly, the hardest part of the test are the MCQs, most of the time its straightforward, sometimes its specific. Some questions ask about vocab (not assessed on AP Exam) - Pretty much a self-study course, as long as you keep up you should be fine. (Pretty much a Synchronous "Remote" Class but you must show up to campus every period) - If you choose to do ACE, ensure you look at their grading system. The AP Exam was not that difficult (awaiting score), so use that in your decision. If you wanted to take other classes online through ACE, note that you can also take courses at Sierra College for free (especially online ones). - Do the practice tests for each unit's FRQ and study runestone. Also you should use ChatGPT to give you MCQs to practice for the test. - TAs and Barons/Baronesses (Unofficial TAs/Peer Teachers) are heavily used in this class. They pretty much grade your papers and go over incorrect answers and supervise/grade projects - There are curves for both the Sac State (ACE) and Rocklin High School (RHS) grades. RHS is graded more leniently than Sac State. (Both MCQ and FRQ) No correctives nor any sort of corrections to get your test grade to passing, you are solely relying on the curve if you score low. - ensure you constantly review the concepts, they keep coming back and you wouldn't want to blank out over 50% of the AP Exam in May

- tests are harder than the ap tests - you can do correctives up to 10% on your multiple-choice portion (must complete all AP Classroom on time) - she never assigns busywork, do all the assignments (most of them will show up on the test) - take notes on the lectures, then when you get home use the topic pages to review the content (this helps improve your long term potentiation, essential for success) - find some friends (or at least make time for support) to study with and ask the instructor questions, this will help you understand the content better - assignments that will be graded are chosen randomly, so make sure you have everything with you each class period - FRQs are pretty confusing but you just need to communicate your knowledge of the content - utilize as many resources as possible to study for the test (only use the ones that will help you, otherwise you are just wasting your time) - there are no study guides, just topic pages + AP Classroom. if you need more do the content questions in the textbook (some show up on the test) - make associations to understand the content better

Know the material and do the assignments, you will NOT get the grade you want if you just don't put in the work. If it is not enough, use google for additional resources (you can also ask AI such as ChatGPT to help you practice). For orals, you should make quizlets (or flashcards) and put all your questions on there and memorize them. As long as you understand some basic Spanish phrases (Sometimes the extra question to the question) you will be fine on the follow-ups provided you can speak it clearly. Quizzes are not that bad, I usually only get points taken off for the free-response portion of it, other parts I do fine. You can get Kahoot test bonus points sometimes (I think 2 tests first semester). Play ALL her Kahoots/Blooket/Quizziz review games, it helps you prepare for the test. Review the study guide and know what is being assessed. If you have a higher test (Essential Skill) grade, she might put that in as your final grade for the semester I made google form practice quizzes, you should make some as they can help you study for quizzes (Especially the Extra! (Show) quiz) You will be called on from time to time, be prepared (have your HW ready and make sure it is good to go) Just trust yourself, she really wants you to succeed and she is willing to help only if you are willing to put in the time and effort :) If you find Spanish I and Spanish II (Adv) really easy, this class should not be that hard, pretty much no homework most days but somedays there are packets

- show up to class as often as you can - do correctives/makeup as needed - do not bring your phone to class, it will be confiscated - if you are going to be absent for a school-related activity, let him know in advance via email as soon as possible

For AP Lang: - there is no gradebook weighting such as the traditional 70% assessments and 30% homework categories, everything is weighted the same but "summative assessments" are usually have more points associated with them (Typically 100 points for essays); - do all the assignment in this class, since there is no gradebook weighting they can help provide a buffer for your grade; - put effort into your assignments, he grades them based on completion and effort, as long as you put enough effort into your work you will receive full credit (points can be docked off for lack of effort); - take the lessons to heart, Grace will provide you with a valuable skill set that sets you up for success in college and beyond; - Read the assigned books and study for the quizzes (they can help improve/maintain your grade or tank it if you bomb it --> Mostly reading comprehension)

- on tests (LOTs = Learning Over Time assessment), aim to earn as many points on the Essential Skill category as those points are weighted the most in the gradebook - the non-essential content of the tests help you get a higher score overall but there will be some challenging questions (about 1 or 2) which you should always attempt but skip if necessary - he collects homework but you usually have until the test day to turn it in for full credit - we have review days + team quizzes the class before the test - pay attention in class and don't be afraid to ask Mr. Kirk questions, he is very enthusiastic about math!

- do most if not all of the assignments as they may serve as a safety net in case an ESA (Essential Skill Assessment) drops your grade - make sure all work has time and effort put in, most of the assignments she grades for quality of completion, not necessarily just for completion - you can ask the teacher to pre-read your essay and she would make some adjustments/suggestions to it - there is a chance that if you go beyond her expectations you can earn some extra credit points - make sure to keep up with the work especially if you are enrolled in other advanced/honors/dual enrollment/advanced placement course

I had him for Precalculus/Trigonometry Honors, he will not be teaching AP Statistics next school year. - Do all your homework assignments, the bookwork may seem tedious and lengthy but it is crucial for your success in this course - Understand most, if not all the concepts. He really wants you to succeed so ask questions as needed (or email him) if you are confused on a topic, or ask your desk partner - Most confusing formulas are given on the tests and quizzes (the more straightforward ones require you to memorize them), you just need to know when to use them - you are eligible for a grade bump if you receive a "4" or "Standard Exceeded" on the state test (CAASPP math). However, don't count on this. - make sure you double check yours and your groups work during team quizzes. Unlike past math courses, it is actually scored. A random person would be graded and that would be everyone's grade. you can get your team quizzes back to study the next day during lunch or anytime after that - you get all your tests and quizzes back after a couple of days (once everyone takes it: including in the other classes) except your finals - many concepts are challenging, however through practice and hard work you should master them (seek tutoring if you need help)
