Try to work the literary devices and ideas discussed in lectures into your essays; it will boost your grade. Read the books carefully and take notes. Don't turn work in late because you will lose lots of credit.

Take advantage of peer and instructor feedback, because your grade is largely based on writing and presentation quality. The teacher wants to help but is very busy, so sign up for her access if you need one-on-one help. You will need to present your work often. If you're really afraid of presenting, you might not want to take the class.

Listen carefully during lectures and refer back to your notes when doing homework. If you are struggling, come in before school or during office hours. Don't be afraid to ask questions - it beats losing track. Also, make sure to carve out time for homework - if you don't, it will swamp you at the end of the marking period. In particular, finish the charting before a short answer test - it's a great study guide!

Listen carefully to lectures. The teacher will not tell you what to write for notes, but try to write down methods and sample problems. Create a good note card before taking a test - it makes them much easier. Most of your grade is test scores, so being well prepared is key.

Don't overthink the work; completion matters much more than quality. You will need to put in some work at home, but it shouldn't overwhelm you.
