Study. Pay attention to small details, such as grammatical mistakes (though this is good advice for foreign language classes in general).
The pace picks up as the year goes by. Essays eventually are expected to be written in a week. Tests are difficult and hard to study for, but still passable. Writing is essential to doing well, but the rubric is basically the same as that of SBAC testing and is consistent throughout the year. Students learn how to correctly and clearly provide evidence and analyze it to prove a point. Reading comprehension is also important. The class will require effort to pass.
