Her opinion is fact.

This was one of my favorite classes in freshman year. The material was very interesting, and I learned the most I've ever learned from a single class. The homework load can seem a bit much, but it really prepares you for the upcoming years of high school. The test questions align very closely to the practice test questions so make sure to study that.

I had her for freshmen bio. Ms. Lerner is hard, but is a good teacher and genuinely cares about her students. The check ups are hard, but you can retake them, so just make sure you study well for them and do your best. Do all your homework diligently because the tests are basically stuff from the homework. I suggest just making your study guides be all the information from the HW (look through each worksheet and if there is information that you wouldn't know off the top of your head, write that down on your study sheet paper).

Her biology class is one of the hardest science classes in MV, especially as a freshman. You should capitalize on your resources in this class; go to all of her tutorial periods and retake everything you are able to. Try to review material once a week.

The only thing you need to do to succeed is to take notes during class. She emphasizes everything important during her lectures, so if you pay attention during class all the homework is just review. The homework might seem excessive if you aren't interested in the subject, but you'll find that if you do it you end up with a very comprehensive understanding of the subject. Still, paying attention during her lectures is the best way to make sure you know everything you need to. It's not a lab-heavy class, it's instead focused on drawing connections to the real-life applications of all the content you learn. This means that it's easy to like the class because everything you learn is useful, but if you don't like it you might find that it demands a lot of effort that your lack of interest won't motivate you to put in. Lerner genuinely cares about the subjects and her students and she makes an effort to make it as easy as possible to do well. She hosts retakes for almost everything, so as long as you're willing to put the effort in you'll do well, even if you aren't very good at the subject. tl;dr: Take notes during class. Don't be lazy. Appreciate the class, it's one of the best I've ever had.

Lerner's class incredibly challenging, but has made every biology or biology-related class I've since taken a breeze. Even AP Bio was easier for me than her Biology class since she prepares her students very well. She is by far the hardest biology teacher for freshmen.

Just make sure to do the homework and check your answers. Everything she teaches is on the homework!

If you study all the material throughout the year, Mrs. Lerner's class will be extremely enjoyable. If you don't, it'll be hell...
