You must practice outside of class if you want to succeed her later classes. She is an amazing teacher so, chances are, if you fully participate in class and explain to her what you need or what you are having trouble with, she will help. Fully understand your mistakes before your next writing assignment. If she does not fit your learning style, tell her that so she may cater to your needs. However, she will not coddle you. She is straightforward which may be a problem for some more sensitive students (I was one of them) but remember she is trying to get you to be the best writer possible.
