- take notes in class - ask questions either during class or break time - attend his tutoring sessions ran by ap chem students if needed - do practice tests before test at least once, his test is really similar to it - do the assignments on time that count for grade

At first, the course and its content appears really difficult and confusing which is why you should do the following. Aim to do all of the homework that Mr. Sanchez assigns (as they are for the most part, optional). He will only go over the homework if there are questions on it, which is why it's so important that you figure out what you don't get right away. If you are confused, ask him (I can't stress this enough) - he is approachable and it will make much more sense once he explains it to you one-on-one versus in class. If necessary, see if you can stay after school to get some help, this will help a ton!

There is a need for intrinsic motivation to complete the optional homework so you get the right practice before tests and quizzes. You have to put in the work to understand the concepts and practice the math enough so that it is fast enough for the test.

MEMORIZE YOUR IONS. They do not go away. In addition, even though HW is "optional, " do it. I say this because the HW Quizzes are based on the HW. Sometimes, he actually copies and pastes questions from the HW onto the HW Quizzes. If you do AND understand the HW, you'll do well on the Tests and Quizzes. The Semester Finals consist of questions copied and pasted from prior Tests and Quizzes. You don't have to be smart to get an A (which is what most people will say), you just have to work smart. Lastly, there are 25 point Extra Credit Projects offered each semester. First Semester, you make a song with the lyrics being your ions. Second Semester, you make a comic book based on any topic in Chem.

I had chemistry honors with my friend Evaristo, and all I can say is to follow his advice if you want to pass. Even though the homework assigned does not count for a grade, still try to do at least part of it and try to self teach the topics and ideas you do not understand. The class can be difficult, but online resources such as The Organic Chemistry Tutor on Youtube can be helpful in trying to understand topics you may not have understood during class.

Mr. Sanchez is an amazing teacher who made chemistry fun. I was worried by the fact that upperclassmen say chemistry H is quite difficult, but in reality, it wasn’t bad at all. Mr. Sanchez is really funny guy who makes a joke every day. Really enjoyable class to take, but it might depend on whether you are willing to put some work in and if you are fine with math. Of course, you don’t need to be the best at math, but it is good to have the skills. Lots of homework are optional, but I recommend you to do the optional ones unless you’re super duper busy because it helps you to practice for the exam. He often puts the similar questions from homework on the homework quizzes. Ask him questions when you are unsure, and I would suggest attending tutoring sessions during lunch because AP Chem students can teach you pretty well, too. If not, watch organic chemistry tutors since he’s the best at explaining those concepts and how to do the math. Just make sure to not procrastinate and do your work and study ahead, you will be fine! His extra credit assignments are really helpful and generous too, so make sure to do them.

The class was one of the classes I truly considered as a difficult class to pass, and I wish that the teacher would have gone more into depth with the topics and helped us fully understand instead of going off topic for twenty minutes each day talking about Marvel, Transformers, and what to bring for a zombie apocalypse.
