Took 11Pre-AP/12AP Biology with Hazlewood in 2021/2022. The content in these classes are very heavy compared to many other courses offered, but there is still adequate time to understand everything. Labs are very easy to complete if you pre-read the instructions the night before. Make sure to not only listen to his lessons (since he doesn't have detailed information on the slides he posts), but also read the textbook (this is a MUST, since it helps deepen your understanding and makes the quizzes/tests trivial). There are always an abundance of "application questions" which require you to use certain keywords to obtained the marks available. Overall, would probably say that his tests/quizzes are harder than the AP Biology exam.

If you're in his academic class, this guy is so used to teaching higher levels and gifted kids that he doesn't know how to dumb it down at all. You'll be learning stuff that the other academic classes won't know anything about, so it's difficult to use their study notes. It's not a fun class but at least it's educational. Also, if you skip a class, he won't be any help at all for you looking to catch up.

Grade 10 Gifted Science: - generally easy class if you preview and review the material regularly - biology is most definitely the hardest unit to do well on because of vast amount of content (also because hazlewood is a bio teacher) - chemistry is likely the easiest unit - much focus is on application section and understanding the material rather than memorizing - exam is easier than all of the tests
