Make sure to take lots of notes in science, and put effort into titlepages. (She really likes physical titlepages) Math and science are at more advanced levels than you might be used to, but good prep for high school.

Miss Boehlke is literally the best elementary teacher out there. Her teaching style, how she interacts with students and staff, everything she does is great. She's been teaching for multiple decades, and you can tell teaching is really her passion. With regards to her class, science is HUGE. Science is a really big part of her class, and I'm pretty sure she studied it in school. For science and math, she has these things called check-ins. They occur every two weeks or so, and they're exactly as the name presents. Little quizzes, to 'check in' on how you're doing. They're not just tests, they're really to see where you are, and to get everyone on the same page. She marks in levels S (standard) A (advanced) and E (expert). As well, for science and math there are unit tests. Those tests are at the end of each unit, and really matter. Miss Boehlke is really passionate about science, and her teaching and marking in that subject are really advanced as well. For science and math, many highschool students who previously had Miss Boehlke as a teacher have stated their highschool experience is much easier in those subjects because of the things they learned in Miss Boehlke's class. It may be a little hard at first, and some people may have some difficulty. But trust me, after being in her class two years in a row (she only teachers grade 8, occasionally grade 7), it gets easier and is so worth it. Regarding science, she also has a big end-of-the-unit summative called a title page. Title page's are just a project that you have to turn in on the same day as the unit test, and are supposed to be a summary of everything we learned in class, put into a creative media work. These are worth 5% of your science grade. Overall, science and math are taught at relatively advanced levels in her class, but it's really for the better of her students. Miss Boehlke is really flexible, with due dates and everything else. Almost every time you ask for an extension, she gives it. She once even gave an extension on a science unit test. One of the best parts of being in Miss Boehlke's class is how fun it is. She has multiple hands-on projects and assignments. One of these is vertical learning. It's where we get into random groups, and we each have whiteboard markers. She has multiple small whiteboards around the class, and when we do vertical learning we do math problems together on those whiteboards. I personally find it to be much better than sitting at your desk filling out pages and pages of math problems in complete silence. Miss Boehlke's class is really fun, she plays music 99% of the time, unless a student says it's distracting. She's always free to help students, she even sacrifices multiple of her free breaks to help students who are having difficulty learning what she teaches in class. Miss Boehlke almost always lets us stay inside during recess to catch up on work, or even to just fool around. Miss Boehlke has ADD. She gets distracted somewhat easily, but it always teaches us extra information. She loves class discussions or debates, and sometimes they stem out of nowhere in the middle of a lesson. She'll let you go on, say what you want, and go into detail of whatever is important. I've learned so much just from her random spurts of discussion and debate. After a while, she gets back on track and finishes the lesson. Once, she stemmed into a debate with a student about sexism in our society. Personally, I found that pretty enlightening. At the time I was in her class, she switches multiple periods with another grade 8 teacher named Mr. Sevel. For two subjects, they switch classes. Mr. Sevel teaches our class geography/history and drama/dance. As well, Miss Boehlke teachers his class art and science. I believe a couple years ago this switch was done with another teacher name Mr Barbaro, but he's left Crosby since then. As of a couple days ago, I received notice that Mr Sevel is actually leaving Crosby as well. he's becoming the vice principle of another school. I don't know whats going to happen next, but for now my class is getting taught by another teacher by the name of Ms. An. I assume the switching periods will continue to happen. There's so much more I could say. I could talk about how much I love her class for hours. But I think you'd only understand if you go through the experience, a completely unique learning experience when you're in Miss Boehlke's class. I cannot express how happy I am to be in her class. It's literally changed my life. I can feel myself getting smarter, learning different subjects in her class is so fun. Her class is the perfect mix of fun, learning, discussion, debate, and overall an amazing experience. If you get her as a teacher, you are so so lucky, you are going to love it. Honestly, as long as you pay attention, you will have fun, and will learn so much.

In Miss Boehlke's class, students will learn numerous skills that will help them become prepared for high school. To do well in her class, pay attention to the lessons in class, complete homework on a regular basis, keep an agenda or to-do list, and enjoy the learning process. If something is unclear, feel free to ask Miss Boehlke in person or by email; she is always happy to help her students do well. Although Miss Boehlke seems to assign more homework than a student in elementary school is used to, please realize that this is for the benefit of the student. In her class, there will be tests, sometimes pop quizzes, and assignments once every few weeks. The work assigned in her class is to strengthen students' time management skills in elementary school, because it is an important skill that will help students balance between their academics, mental health, and extra-circular activities in high school. Miss Boehlke also hosts numerous clubs and sports teams at Crosby Heights Public School, such as chess club, badminton team, soccer team, and more. This whole teacher feedback is written from a perspective of a high school student who was in Miss Boehlke's class in elementary school. From that point of view, it is clear that Miss Boehlke is certainly the best teacher an elementary student can have, as she prepares students for high school and teaches students important life skills.

Go to the grade ahead of you (if your in gr. 8 go to the gr. 9s) and ask them what she means by each project. ask them which sources helped them the most because her presentations are just filled with random things and what they should review because what she tells you to review will never be on the final.
