Take notes, actually pay attention to the material she tells you about. She is really talented in story telling, she often makes her lectures very entertaining!! You will do just fine in her course if you pay attention and communicate with her when you need help!!

I took Intro to Japanese in 11th grade. If you want to continue with Japanese and use it as your second language for a university, I recommend starting in grade 10 instead. Other than that, memorize the living hell out of the Hiragana and Katakana alphabets, and you should be fine :)
