1. Mr. Brown usually gives work time in every class - take advantage of it and complete as much work as you can. It’s tempting to join in with your friends’ conversations, but the more you do in class, the less stressful you’ll feel when you have to hand in all your work. 2. The movies and videos shown during class are important and not only will there be related assignments, but there will be related questions on the test (or exam). 3. All the work you do in a unit is handed in as a portfolio. I cannot stress enough how vital it is to plan out your time so that you complete all the work before the deadline. I didn’t do this a couple of times and I was really stressed because of it. I’m talking about hair pulling, “I don’t think I’ll make it” kind of stress. 4. One of my biggest regrets is not asking more questions. I knew I was capable of completing the work, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t take a toll on my health. You don’t have to complete it on your own. If something is really bothering you, or you’re stuck on a question, or you can’t remember this one word you want to use, or you want it to be checked... please ask. Mr. Brown says this several times throughout the course, but I didn’t realize that there were so many times where I could have asked a question that would’ve helped me so much and didn’t. 5. English is a tough subject. Be confident in your answers and stand behind your writing. I lacked so much confidence in my abilities and I didn’t believe in my opinions or thoughts. Be brave and take charge. You will do great.
