Mr. Vatta is very precise, he likes things done his way. Ask questions that relate to the material, ask him about music and film. Anticipate what will be on the test and practice short/long responses. He makes it pretty obvious if he does or doesn't like you. Act accordingly based on his liking to you, you'll figure it out eventually.
