This class is very dependent on how much self control you have, since you could watch YouTube for the whole lesson and not get told off. The readings/exercises she tells you yo do are very important, since they are probably the only practice you will ever get once quizzes and test come in, which they do quite frequently. The best way to prepare for the tests in the course is to review the material every class, since you do not know when another quiz is going to happen. Since the quizzes in this class are graded on the proficiency scale, a lot of the long answer questions require extra information. This usually means you need to put in everything remotely related to the question into the answer in order to get full marks. The marking is also pretty harsh on long questions, so do not be surprised if you still get marks taken off even if you tried your hardest. In conclusion, good luck in this class, you will need it.
He's a very knowledgeable guy but your experience depends highly on your learning style. He teachers very fast, and mostly reads from the worktext. However he may talk about things outside the worktext and generally, if he talks about something it is most likely important and you should remember this. This can be difficult because if you miss something it will likely not come back. He has an unapproachable attitude but generally he wants his students to succeed and do their best.
