Grande Prairie Composite High School Reviews

Mrs. Arcand is probably the best science/biology teacher I've had throughout my elementary, junior highschool, and highschool experience. She really cares for each and every one of her students and wants to see them succeed. Even though Mrs. Arcand provides her lessons on the daily Question of the Day packages - which is uploaded online - make sure to take thorough notes from the textbook in addition to the Question of the Day powerpoints. The key concepts will be included in the Question of the Day packages. To succeed in class, make sure to read over the Question of the Day PowerPoints as well as take notes daily and revise those notes before any major unit exam or quiz. You will have to do a bit of self-teaching in and out of class. If you ever have any questions - don't be hesitant to ask them in class, she is always eager to help. If you ever need help outside of class, Mrs. Arcand is almost always available during lunch as well as after school. The unit exams will account for the majority of your mark. Make sure to review practice questions on Quest A plus and by using the Key from the library before any unit exam for Biology 30.

Mrs. Calvert's class is a balance of two things, incredibly well-organized lessons, and lots of advice and help available, but on the other side, a bit difficult quizzes and tests. Just make sure to do your homework - they're assigned for a reason. Ask for help when needed, she will help you promptly.

Work on your essay writing ahead of time because it accounts for the majority of your grade. Check all of your work through grammarly before handing it in. For presenting make sure you can annunciate your words and check your posture. Lastly, be concise. Mr. Chiba doesn't want to spend forever marking your work and he often spends time with us focusing our work to be shorter and more direct. Length will not save you.
