Do the practice questions provided on the website after EVERY CLASS, no exceptions. DO NOT FALL BEHIND. Use PDT to ask questions.

In this class, you HAVE to be punctual. Consistency in attention, time, and effort is needed in order to both succeed and have a good time. I don't think you should depend purely on the hand-outs, they're there as a base for you - take your own notes on the side alongside it because it benefits you (especially when he's explaining laws & whatnot that you need to keep in mind, such as in logarithms. ) The tests go in this manner... (at least from my experience as a Math 30-1 student in his class. ) Exams: Longer - MCQ + Numerical + Short Answer. These on average contribute to either 75% of the unit if there's a quiz alongside it, or 100% if not. Quizzes: Shorter - Almost entirely Short Answer. These on average contribute to 25% of an individual unit. So... for example: Logarithms (Math 30-1) (Unit worth blah blah blah (i forgot) % of the Math 30-1 grade) Logs Exam (75%) Logs Quiz (25%) See? Anyhow, ALWAYS ask him for review questions (he has extra hand outs for review questions for those who ask. ) do those questions fully start to finish, and you'll be great.

attend all classes, if you fall back just attend his pdts, great teacher, very understanding and polite until you take advantage of that. he's been amazing to my class all year

Overall, in my experience the Math teachers at O'Leary are absolutely spectacular, I've only had 3 of them (Mr. J Gaborak, Mr. K Engebretson, & Mr. R Pryma*). I hope you benefit from this review, and it helps you navigate any of Mr. Gaborak's classes better. * = Mr. Pryma technically is at Mac, not O'Leary - however he teaches summer school at O'Leary for Math 20-1, I recommend taking that course with him if you're thinking of Math 20-1 as he's an excellent teacher too.
