By the time you reach ELA 30-1, you'll probably know what to expect from an English class, and this one was no different. You'll read a Shakespeare play and a novel, write some essays, and take some reading comp tests. We got a few practice attempts at essays before they were actually worth marks - take advantage of those! So many kids just played flash games on their computers instead, and when the real essays hit they got clapped. Get lots of feedback from your teachers, understand exactly what they want. English at St. Francis has a particular marking structure: there's major assignments, and minor assignments. Ideally you should work hard on every project, but if you just don't have time, at least make sure you complete all of the major assignments because they're worth a ton.
