Extreme amount of writing - consider this a second English class, not a history class, or even a political science class. Tests will often be on content not covered in notes, but in the textbook, so ensure you read everything beforehand. Notes often have extraneous stuff that isn't covered, while being sparse on important details, so you can basically just make your own notes, with the same or better quality. If you don't say anything, the class is going to be super quiet, because engagement is super low - don't count on other students to participate and cover for your lack of knowledge! Don't use contractions, like I just did. There's a lot of grammatical rules, especially for a teacher that isn't teaching English, so make sure to ask about them in advance, or you'll get docked without warning. Worksheets aren't worth anything, so focus on writing. Yes, the worksheets will "help with knowledge", but again, the textbook is a much more comphrehensive and efficient way of doing that. Basically, just pretend you're taking a self-directed English class by yourself.
