he talks a lot and basically just lets you work on your own, don't expect too much

Try and read ahead to learn the same concepts in the class, but in a different style. It's almost impossible to actually learn anything in the class.

Don't write anything too dumb and anything that can pass as common sense is good enough

overall he's not terrible but still not great

You actually don't need to learn that much, as most of it is revision, and the new concepts learnt are simple and easy to apply in the tests.
