The slides were not his own and he often discards, disagrees with, or deviates from the materials. Double check what he says in lectures to see what you need to know. To be on the safe side for exams, just memorize everything you can... we were told we would not be given a formula sheet for the exam, although there actually were some formulas provided (we just didn't know which ones they would be in advance, so had to memorize everything anyways).

Listen to his advice, do everything he tells you, and you will smash it.

You can memorise your way through to a pass or credit however you can't memorise your way through this class, the tests are designed for problem solving and reward creative thinking and a fundamental understanding of the content.
